Habitat use of two groups of Muriquis in an Atlantic Forest fragment in Caratinga – Mina Gerais, Brazil

The proposed study will produce data on habitat use and inter-group interactions between three groups of Muriquis (woolly haired monkeys) that will illuminate the mechanisms underlying group formations in the wild. Muriquis are one of the world’s most endangered primate species, and it is only through a full understanding of habitat use and inter-group interactions that we can hope to conserve them.

The data obtained in this study will be vital for designing a management plan for muriquis, which must have information on intra and meta-population dynamics.
