Galapagos Reef Revival

The Galapagos Coral Restoration Initiative (GCRI) is a project aimed to develop a scientific approach on hermatypic coral restoration in the Galapagos. Its objective is to develop a framework for coral restoration practices through the implementation of a coral gardening pilot project in order to test methodologies, techniques and feasibility for future implementation in the Galapagos.

The project intends to be a guide to restore the historic reefs of the archipelago and rescue the Galapagos last surviving coral communities, exploiting their genetic resilience to restore coral cover, reestablish reef ecosystem functions and aid its coral population natural recovery.
