The illegal trafficking and the large tradition for more than 100 years ago to capture wild birds and maintain in cage in the village of Gibara, in north-eastern cost of Cuba, had been resulting in a hot point, by decreasing of natural population of several endemic, migratory or resident birds. Gibara is considered as an IBA´s site and one of the more important migratory bird corridor in Cuba.

The main goal of this project is to continue with five editions of efforts by a group of artist and scientist to conserve the birds and his habitat through environmental education campaigns every year, where art and nature mix to produce Festivals and any king of action focusing in bird conservation.

These actions consist on activities such as arts competitions for children, wildlife art show with bird theme, birdwatching trips with students, productions and use of educational material (brochures, multimedia, posters, books and others), bird conservation campaigns, wild photographic competition, trip with artist to the nature to get inspiration for his arts pieces, Radio and TV programs, courses for teacher, forest guard, police department, about how to conserve the birds and the environmental law, that help to preserve the biodiversity.
