Conservation resources for Eagle’s Nest Wildlife Sanctuary: a biodiversity inventory with indigenous community participation

Arunachal Pradesh in north-east India is among the top biodiversity hotspots of the world. The Eagle’s Nest Wildlife Sanctuary (ENWLS) spans over 3000m of altitude and yet it is easily accessible. This is a unique combination for Arunachal which makes ENWLS an exceptional place for ecologists and wildlife tourists. The team proposes to look at the species diversity in ENWLS and develop a photo library which will be of use to scientists, wildlife managers and tourists. Indigenous people around ENWLS will be trained to play an important role in the above activities and thereby develop a stake in the long term survival of the ENWLS.
