The Environment Youth Awareness Award, Thailand

Kriangsak Klomsakul

A pilot project to develop awareness and action for the environment in Thailand through the Youth Environment (YEA) Programme.

This project aims to induce and support a development of enquiry-based learning on the local environment in Thailand. The YEA is a non-competitive award that challenges young people to get involved in and active for Thailand’s natural heritage and in doing so develop their own skills, self-confidence and abilities.

The YEA was inspired by the John Muir Award in Scotland and the aim of this eighteen month pilot project is to adapt the award to Thailand before expanding it nationwide.

Participants will complete four environmental challenges with a trained Award leader over a certain time period. Award leaders, participants and the YEA Advisory committee will all be asked to give feedback on the pilot project so that the final YEA will be a truly Thai Award.
