Integrated Conservation and Development Project in Dja Faunal Reserve, Cameroon III

A project to develop a plan for sustainable hunting in an area critical to great apes in Cameroon.

None

The ongoing Integrated Conservation and Development Project (ICDP) at the northern periphery of the Dja Faunal Reserve, Cameroon, consists mainly of a great ape research project (Projet Grands Singes) in a forest area of about 60km², protected by the local communities.

The current project aims to set up a sustainable management plan for exploitation of the prey species in the hunting zone between the villages and the great ape research site.

A socio-economic study, with emphasis on activity budgets, nutrition profiles and revenue creation, will be carried out in three communities involved in the ongoing DP, and will provide the necessary feedback.
