Developing educational material on the Western Ghats, a global biodiversity hotspot

None

This project aims to develop an educational interactive CD-ROM and posters on the biodiversity of the Western Ghats, a global biodiversity hotspot in southern India. As the current educational system does not adequately cover any aspects of local biodiversity, the primary target will be school children who would benefit from learning about the flora and fauna as well as about local conservation issues.

An introduction to biodiversity conservation, descriptions of important species and taxonomic groups, landscapes, parks and people and ecological issues will be explained and illustrated with photographs.

This is proposed to be the first in a ten part series on the different biogeographic zones of India.
