The core purpose of the proposed project is to provide a sustainable and lasting impact on the habitat and biodiversity situation of the forest areas through the peoples’ self initiatives.

Tanzania Colobus Monkey Trust (TCMT), is a small non governmental, non-profit making, voluntary organization with vision to research, educate and promote grass root awareness in participatory conservation of wildlife and ecology to local communities living within or surrounding environmentally devastated areas particularly on areas with least statutory protection mechanisms e.g. areas outside the National Parks, Game Reserves, Game Controlled Areas etc.

Also TCMT focuses in potential restoration of the degraded areas mainly by raising seedlings and adequate planting of habitable tree species.

TCMT has designed, planned, organized and is in promotion of an exhilarating eco-cultural tourism program that will provide a full day blend of cultural and ecological tourism activities taking place in small villages and lush diverse forest and the Arusha National Park. This program will be run by local people and will therefore promote the general well being of the village and forest area through consistent employment and revenue. This project is unique in its efforts to take a very small group of tourists through an entire day of activities; keeping the disturbance to village life very low and making the visitors feel personally welcomed.

The project shall provide a tourism activities performed along a 50 km route passing along the native community villages, local school, the Arusha National Park, a luncheon point and finally a visit to the colobus monkey forests The overall policy and goal of the Trust regarding CECTOP is to establish and collaboratively run the project and spend the revenue so realized for incentives prescribed below aimed at making the villagers evenly enjoy the benefits from the forest touristy income and raise their morale in pragmatically conserving nature. When this goal is finally met, the villagers will have total control over the project.

A: Grant the revenue generated from CECTOP to be managed and used by the villagers to compliment the sustainable and tangible social-economic projects such as education, health and clean tap water.

B: To create, from appropriate program stations about 70 employment chances with average monthly salary of US Dollars 50.

C: There shall be an all women handicraft market within the tour program where women society from the village shall have opportunity to display and sell handicrafts to visitors.

D: A justifiable portion of the proceeds will be used to make the Trust financially self-dependent.
