Rewilding the Clouds aims to reintroduce extirpated bird species to the KBA San Antonio Cloud Forest in Colombia, where 30% of the avifauna was lost to 20th-century habitat loss and fragmentation, which has since ceased.

Phase I will deliver: (1) evidence-based feasibility studies for the Vulnerable Cauca Guan and Near-Threatened Toucan Barbet, incorporating field data and community input, and (2) pilot reintroductions of a breeding pair per species, with post-release survival monitoring. These findings will inform Phase II:
Population Establishment, fostering adaptive management for sustainable, long-term species reintroduction and ecosystem recovery.
