Saving Vulnerable Lion (Panthera leo) from Retaliatory Killing in Tarangire-Manyara Ecosystem through Community Capacity Building and Conservation Education

Anthropogenic changes, including logging for fuelwood (e.g., firewood and charcoal), climate change, and degradation of natural habitats in Pugu Forest Reserve (PFR), threaten the population of the critically endangered Uvaria puguensis (CEUP), which is a native plant to Tanzania. These changes have been imperilling the species' natural habitats and the natural processes driving their reproduction and propagation.

The project aims to secure the remaining population of CEUP in the wild and improve its native habitats, as well as contribute towards sustainable conservation of the species through the establishment of its population size, restoration, community capacity building, and awareness-raising.
