Bat counting team getting ready for another bats counting phase.

Through community mobilization and seminars, the project will focus on sensitizing and organizing the local communities especially the bat guano harvesters in Musanze volcanic caves about bat conservation, also highlighting ecological and ecosystem services of the resident bats and promote sustainable guano harvesting mechanisms. Also population status of the bats will be estimated using direct counting methods. Further more data on the breeding and movement patterns will be collected to help conservation efforts of the resident bat species.
