The Great Bustard is at the border of extinction in Serbia. Our main goal would be to gather information about the numbers of the birds in and outside of the protected area, the nesting population, the endangering factors and what were the reasons that led to this unfavorable situation. GPS coordinates from all detected nests locations will be taken, this will help in future conservation.
The population of natural predators will be surveyed. Our educational campaign will have three main target groups:
2) the civilian farmers, who use the land for agricultural activities: how can they contribute to the preservation of the great bustard (an what to pay attention when mowing, hay harvesting, what kind of chemicals to use, what to do if they find a bustard nest during agricultural activities, what kind of plants to sow)
3) we will organize an excursion for members of nature conservation organizations and other interested individuals with a lecture about the Great Bustard.
This project will have a large campaign in media aimed on bustard popularization and their conservation.
