This project is designed basically for conserving the Sloth bear (Melursus ursinus) and its habitat through people’s active involvement by making them more aware and responsible. Sloth bear is listed in IUCN red book as vulnerable and marked on CITIES Appendix I. Major threats to this species are habitat loss and poaching. Carelessness among the stakeholders towards Sloth bear conservation is pushing their lives more uncertain. Unfortunately, there is almost zero information and specific efforts regarding status and density of the species and any conservation activities in favour of Sloth bear in Nepal. It is true that- without motivation, cooperation, sharing and understanding between people, civil society and authority, objectives of Sloth bear conservation could not succeed. Once all the concerned stakeholders are united and come to a common place and have a common understanding, there will be no doubt in implementing conservation plan effectively. Therefore, people's participation, appropriate plan, creditable commitment of concerned stakeholders towards conservation is must for sustainable conservation of the important species.
