This study hopes to establish the baseline information about the distribution, threats and habitat requirements of the Philippine warty-pig in Mt. Banahaw de Tayabas. Understanding the distribution and distributional relationships, threats and likely future management needs of this and other Philippine wild pig species is important for future conservation of this taxa.
Furthermore, this project will train park managers and rangers on how to conduct field techniques and monitor the Philippine warty- pig as well as the government in setting priorities for habitat and species conservation in the island. This project will also engage local researchers, non-government organizations, especially students in conducting research and appreciating different aspects of the mammal's biology, ecology and conservation.
