This project title is “ Sustainably managing of local marine areas through social marketing”. The effective protection of marine ecosystems requires international, national and local conservation efforts. The main threat to these ecosystems and their biodiversity is pollution from the mainland, e.g. agricultural pesticide and household detergents, etc.

This project will create a new conservation dynamic by empowering a Women’s Group to become actively involved in sound marine and coastal management. The Iboih Women’s Group of Aceh will develop high-quality and low cost environmentally-friendly soap and sell this to the locally owned and managed tourist guesthouses that are all located on the seafront of Pulau Weh. This will deliver dual biodiversity and community livelihood benefits.
