International Primatological Society 2008 Congress

The International Primatological Society 2008 Congress will be held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), located in the heart of Scotland’s capital city within walking distance of a range of hotels to suit all budgets. The airport is conveniently just 10km away. More than 150 daily flights connect Edinburgh with many airports across the UK, Europe and the US.

The Primate Society of Great Britain will host the Congress which has not been held in the UK since the 1976 meeting in Cambridge. PSGB’s national conferences have demonstrated, for many years, that we have a vibrant and dynamic community of primate researchers in the UK and we expect that to be evident in the quality and breadth of the 2008 Congress. The Congress will maintain IPS’s tradition of welcoming primatologists from all disciplines from all over the world to present the best of contemporary research.

The proposed social programme will include a Ceilidh (Scottish country dancing), a final conference dinner, poster receptions at the EICC and opportunities to visit Edinburgh Zoo and view some of the primate material in the National Museums of Scotland.

The Rufford Small Grants Foundation is proud to be a sponsor of the 2008 IPS Congress through an award which will support the attendence of approximately 15 delegates from lower income countries to participate in the congress. These bursaries, awarded on the same basis as the Wenner Gren bursaries, have now all been allocated and closed to further applications.

We would welcome feedback on the forum from those who attended the Congress.
