Amphibians
Investigation of the International Aquarium Trade as a Pathway for the Global Dispersal of Amphibian Chytrid Fungus (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis)
My project aims to elucidate the role of the international aquarium trade as a possible global dispersal engine for amphibian chytrid fungus (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis). In doing so, I intend to produce results which will help slow the progression of the current global amphibian extinction crisis which is being exacerbated by this emerging infectious disease.
An assessment of Herpetofaunal diversity, Distribution and Conservation Status in Barail Hill Range, Northeast India.
We plan to continue herpetofaunal Inventory at the higher altitudes of Barail Hill Range (1000-2500m). Delineating the distribution pattern and working with local communities the project aims to develop a basis necessary for the long time conservation of the Herpetofauna of Barail Hill Range.
Distribution, diversity and abundance of the frogs of central and eastern Solomon Islands – implication for forest conservation
The two aims of this project are to 1. Record the presence and abundance of all native frog species in 12 sites in the Central and Eastern Solomons group. 2.Assess whether native frog populations are impacted by different land use practices such as logging, agriculture, invasive spp.
Conservation of montane forest anurans in Southeastern Peru
The project goals are to document diversity and assess condition and trends in a species-rich, montane frog community, to study the population response
of selected species to land-use changes, to increase our knowledge of the natural history of endangered and critically endangered species, to raise awareness of the current threats on frog populations, and to involve local people and children in research, monitoring and education activities.
Monitoring the reproductive success of endangered Fijian ground frog on Viwa Islands
This project aims to carryout detailed monitoring of the annual variation in the reproductive status of endangered Fijian ground frog Platymantis vitianus, within selected cane toad Bufo marinus accessible and cane toad inaccessible “out-of bound” natural habitats, on Viwa Island-Fiji.
Bolivian Amphibian Initiative
The conservation of Bolivian threatened amphibians, providing diversity and ecological information through surveys and education workshops in poorly known areas.
Conservation of golden frogs and orphan forests in eastern Madagascar
This project aims to secure the threatened habitats of the Critically Endangered Golden Mantella frog ‘Mantella aurantiaca’. I will develop a monitoring protocol and engage community representatives and hope to establish a model for the conservation of other threatened amphibian species in Madagascar that have restricted ranges.
Kuchu Mago Frog Project: Distribution, abundance, habitat preference and conservation status of frogs of the New Georgian Islands, Western Province, Solomon Islands.
This goal of this project is to carry out a comprehensive inventory of native frogs in the New Georgian Islands, Western Province, Solomon Islands.
Status, distribution and conservation of threatened amphibians of Cuban rainforests
Our study will identify conservation threats and needs, and for this we will note and quantify every possible factor: habitat destruction/modification, alien species, etc.
Conservation of critically endangered amphibians: Atelopus farci and Bolitoglossa capitana from Colombia
This project aims to determine their current status and resource requirements and to develop a comprehensive management strategy to facilitate their long term conservation.
