Status and Conservation of Gyps vultures in Provisional Vulture Safe Zone Central Gujarat, Ahmadabad

A step towards conserving the critically endangered Gyps vultures in Gujarat Sate (India) through awareness, advocacy and scientific monitoring & documentation of vulture colonies.

The project will be very useful in getting exact idea about the current situation of all breeding colonies of critically endangered Gyps vultures across Gujarat and neighbouring regions of other states.

The project will also create awareness in local stakeholders about the vulture crisis and necessity to save the species. It will also generate new local leaders and support already existing local people who can contribute for many other ecological issues in future. Advocacy with government officials will generate a pressure in government system for such issues and will be beneficial for any such crisis in future. In future it can be used as an example in case any such issues which involves active positive role of government.

The project will generate a high quality conservation film on vultures which will be made in English as well as various local languages. This will be very useful for awareness and education purposes Full documentation of vulture behaviour, their needs and their problems in wild will help a lot to make better management policies and also for better captive management plans for captive breeding program.
