In 2010/11, The Rufford Foundation provided a grant of £5,000 to Topsy Foundation UK. Topsy Foundation aims to partner with rural communities in South Africa, empowering people infected with, and affected by, HIV and AIDS through medical care, social support and skills development.
We are very pleased to have the support of The Rufford Foundation in our efforts to secure funds in the UK to ensure our work in the poor communities of Johannesburg can help as many beneficiaries as possible.
Recent highlights of our work include:
-Through our Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Project we reached 1,695 OVCs in October 2009, with many of the households ‘grandmother-headed’.
-Each month, over 200 individual gardens provided food to over 380 adults and 320 children and an average of 455 people benefitted from the output of 10 communal gardens.
-In 2010, 1,554 patients received antiretroviral treatment at the clinic per month – double the number in 2008.
