Changing Faces is about ‘changing lives’ and ‘changing minds’.
‘Changing Lives’: each year, hundreds of people with disfigurements (and their families) access our unique FACES package of help to strengthen their self-esteem, confidence and resilience for living in our looks-obsessed society. FACES helps them to find out about their condition, get ‘attitude’, cope with difficult feelings, exchange experiences with others and acquire social skills to manage others’ reactions.
‘Changing Minds’: our Face Equality campaign challenges the attitudes of the public media, schools, employers and policy-makers so that disfigurement is no longer seen as tragic or life-limiting and instead everyone is treated fairly irrespective of their appearance.
